ENGINES OF CHANGE

ENGINES OF CHANGE

EACH STEP WE TAKE THROUGH LIFE TELLS A STORY ABOUT US. What we did right. What we did wrong.

Are we good, bad or evil?

Do we support our world moving forward?

Do we want to just bring it all down?

Do we want to prevent progress of any kind?

Are we so scared of negative outcomes that we think we should, therefore, not pursue any form of advancements?

Are we drug addicts?

Are we mean? Do we choose to be the ones that cause trouble in our communities?

Does it matter who we say is the cause of our troubles?

Bad genetic combinations? Bad environments? Combinations of both?

Does any of this matter?

I don't think so...

At any point in time a person can stop doing something, going a certain way, and strike out on a new course. A good person can go bad, a bad person can go good.

AND FOR ALL YOU RELIGIOUS FOLKS THAT DON'T BELIEVE THIS SIMPLE PHILOSOPHY I SUGGEST YOU ACTUALLY GO READ YOUR RELIGIOUS BOOKS. ALL OF YOUR HEROES WERE ONCE BAD GUYS.

We think so highly of ourselves that we forget ourselves. And in forgetting ourselves we lose track of our purposes. We lose track of our responsibilities to ourselves.

If we can't even be responsible to ourselves how can we claim that we are capable of being responsible when it comes to us interacting with one another?

We have one responsibility to ourselves--locate and pursue our purposes in life.

We have one responsibility to our fellow humans--help them, when they need it, to locate and pursue their purposes in life.

It is none of  our jobs to attempt to force people to be what we want them to be.

As humans, our biggest fault is that we often allow one another to wither. We leave those in trouble in trouble. And while it is true that some people will not be saved, it is also true that we become complicit in their destruction when we refuse to offer them real help.

Engines of change are what we are.

For better or worse we influence the world around us on a daily basis. How we interact with people, how we relate to people, how honest we are with people and how serious we are with people can change the course of people's lives.

What people care most about is honesty. They see who you are via your actions. When your words and actions don't match up, something in their minds tells them you're not to be trusted.

The world, our world, is not a complicated place. Sure it is made up of complexities that we have built into it. The systems that allow it to move along in various states of social and economic fluctuation. These things people confuse with us being us. When in reality they are parts of our existence not the underlying code of our individual existences. We confuse them. We become entangled in the functions of these pieces.

The things we operate are not us though. We created them, they did not create us. We are the engines.

And we can change at any time.
